Wakeboarding For Beginners
I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the Mastercraft this summer and making some turns on the lake. I’m a true water skier at heart, born and raised on the lakes of Michigan. As I’m getting back into the sport, I find myself amongst more and more wakeboarders than ever before.
Now that I live in a ski town, it is probably very similar to the old “skiers vs. snowboarders” clash on the slopes. Not that I’m suggesting there is any turmoil at all between water skiers and wakeboarders, it’s just that I know very little about wakeboarding (though I’m anxious to try).
For anyone in the same boat (ha, nice pun) I wanted to attach a little “Beginners Guide to Wakeboarding.”
Party Boats?
I was talking to a friend of mine earlier today about the upcoming summer season. I was explaining how I was beginning to think ahead to some beautiful months on the lake. Specifically, we were talking about my daughter’s birthday coming up in July and what we should do for a party.
As I got to thinking about the lake and about ideas for a 4 year old’s birthday, it occurred to me that a party on pontoon boats followed by a beach barbecue would be the perfect idea. The kids would have a blast because it’s something different and new and the adults would have a relaxing time as well. Win-win, if you ask me.
So if you’re around the Marina come July 1st, don’t be surprised if you see a gang of happy little people diving head first into ice cream and sheet cake while the parents are smiling from ear to ear. That will be me and my “little munchkin” Caroline!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day
There’s just something about the 17th of March that brings out the Irish in all of us (whether you descend from Ireland or not). Yes, it’s time to dust off your green plaid sweater and shamrock hat that you’ve held hidden in your closet for the last year. Call up ‘the gang’ and go drink some green beer or whiskey!
For those that find themselves in Steamboat Springs tonight, don’t forget that the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp will be firing off fireworks to celebrate the occasion. The best viewing area will be from Gondola Square (or the deck of your favorite slope-side drinking establishment).
As the ”Luck ‘O The Irish” has it, we find ourselves lucky enough to be in Steamboat for the festivities. From all of us here at the Marina, we wish you a happy and safe St. Patty’s!
